Movie of the Week << The Intern (2015)

Heyyy people!

I hope your weekend was good and now let’s end our Monday with a movie review!
This week’s movie is The Intern and I am pretty excited to talk to you about it.
 Title: The Intern
Release Date: 2015
Genre: Comedy, Drama
Director: Nancy Meyers
Starring: Anne Hathaway, Robert DeNiro, Rene Russo, Anders Holm
Duration: 2h 1m
Summary: Ben Whittacker (Robert DeNiro) is 70 years old, a widower and slowly comes to the realization that retirement is not as fun as he thought it would be. He has tried several hobbies to spend his time but nothing seems to give him a sense of accomplicement. When he finds out that Jules’ company “About the Fit” is hiring seniors as interns, he decides to apply. Jules is the founder of an online shop that sells clothes, shoes, etc. The work has been pilling up the last year as their success is growing and Jules responsibilities have been way too many. Ben is assigned to work with her, he gets more and more involved with her messy life and an unexpected friendship is developing.
Likes/Dislikes(may contain spoilers): I simply adored this movie from the start! As the monutes went by, I was so sure that I was going to give this movie a 5-star rating and I was waiting to see if it would dissapoint me or not. Well, it didn’t!
I like the way Ben and Jules’ relationship was developing, as Jules did not like him at first, she found him too observant and did not want someone to mingle with her bussines. But Ben turned out to be very kind and helping and Jules dropped her guard and even let him meet her family.
Ben came out to be a very valuable friend and Jules started confiding in him, ecpesially when she found ou that her husband is cheating on her. Ben gave her thoughtfull advise, thus making their friendship stronger.
I just really liked this relationship, there was not something sexual about them, it was just pure fondness of each other. And in the end, after every matter was solved and every obstacle was overpassed, Jules and Ben remained two good friends.
What I didn’n like about the storyline is the fact that they wanted to assign a CEO to run Jules company as they thought she was not capable of doing it herself. I felt like they were just seeing the tree and they missed the forest. Jules was the soul of the company and what kept it together, as she was always trying to supervise every sector and personally help to correct the mistakes and faults that happened from time to time.
But, in the end, Jules’ capability overcame everything and she turned out all the offers for the potentional CEOs. It really showed that if you have faith on your dreams, you can achieve every milestone and every goal you want!
That was it for the movie review and I would highly recommend it for you to watch it, if you haven’t already!
“As we express are gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, is to live by them”.
